Will Your Bike Soon Be Flying Over Traffic Jams?

Flying Bikes

Three companies in the Czech Republic have teamed up to make a prototype of an electric bicycle that is capable of flying.

The amazing bicycle is presently controlled remotely whilst in development, but its designers hope that it will soon be capable of carrying people.

The Problem Is The Battery

The designers hope that battery technology will soon be sufficiently advanced to significantly lengthen the five-minute flights that the bike is presently capable of performing, which in turn will make the bike marketable.

"Because the capacity of batteries doubles about every ten years, we can expect that in the near future that the capacity will be enough for the bike to used for sports, tourism or similar things",

said Milan Duchek, the technical director of Duratec Bicycles.

What Does The Flying Bike Look Like?

The flying bike looks similar to a heavy mountain bike, but it has two propellers in the front, another two in the back and one on each side.

And It’s Present Controllability?

"It’s not as easy to control as a toy or even an RC (Remote Control) model. It’s quite a complicated thing, and you have to take into account that it weighs 95kg/210lbs".

Said the ‘pilot’, Jan Spatny

  1. I think it’s great that the idea is being worked on but I can’t see it taking off; no pun intended.

The cost of insurance for a scooter is sky-high and can you imagine what the insurers would charge for this?!
